This LevenBetts designed home was completed by Rick McCue in 2017 and featured as House of the Month in Architectural Record 2023. The general concept was to heal the woodland cut and create a “natural opening in the woodlands. At the onset Farmscape Ecology prepared a biological inventory and historic narrative of the site that guided the invasive plant removals and development of a native plant palette as well as the trail destinations. The area surrounding the house is planted with a low tapestry of groundcovers, understory trees and paths that evolved with use. Paths lead to a fieldstone sitting area and miles of woodland trails. Understory shadblow, yellow birch and moosewood soften the woodland cut. Dramatic rock outcroppings reveal the geological history.
